Basketball Basics & Beyond - Online CD Demo Help
Why doesn't the video play on my computer?
- In order to view the online demo,
you need to have the appropriate "player" software installed on your computer.
Most users of the Microsoft Windows operating system (Win95,98,Me,NT,2000,XP)
will likely have the Windows Media Player already installed, and can therefore
view the Windows Media or AVI format versions of the demo. In order to view the
demo in other formats such as RealVideo or Flash (or in AVI format, if you do not
have a suitable viewer/player installed), you will need to download and install
the player software, by clicking on one of the links provided on our Online Demo
webpage.
- Once you have installed a viewer/player, simply select the link matching your
player type (and the version that matches your internet connection speed, where
applicable) and our server will begin sending the demo file to your computer.
- Please note that depending on the format chosen, the video may begin playing
within a few seconds of starting the download, or the demo file might first need to
be completely transferred to your computer before it will begin playing using your
applicable viewer/player software. A faster internet connection will mean a shorter
time to wait for the demo file to download.
What formats are available for the CD Online Demo?
- Macromedia Flash: Users whose
computers have the Flash plugin installed for their browser(s) may select the
Flash option from the Online Demo webpage. Please note that the Flash media
file must first download from our server to your computer before the demo
video will begin playing.
- RealVideo: You will need RealPlayer software installed on your
computer to view the demo in this format. A big reason for selecting this
format is that the Online Demo will begin playing within a few seconds of
establishing the connection from our website to your RealPlayer software,
and will continue to play while the RealVideo format file downloads/streams
to your computer. There are two versions of the RealVideo format
available - one for users who have a slower, 56k dialup internet connection,
and one for users with high-speed (cable, ISDN, DSL) internet connections.
Select the version appropriate to your internet connection speed.
- Windows Media: You will need a version of Microsoft Media Player
software installed on your computer (there are versions available for virtually
every Operating System on the planet). Select the link appropriate to your
internet connection speed. The Windows Media file does not actually "stream" in
the same manner as the RealVideo version, but it will begin playing in a reasonably
short time once the Media Player has begun downloading the file to your computer,
and will continue playing while the video file is downloaded. Note: If your internet
connection is a little slow, or there is significant traffic on the network, the
video may not be displayed optimally while it is downloading from our server. This
is a function of the manner in which the file is transfered to your computer.
Once the video has finished downloading to your computer, subsequent playback(s)
should improve their viewing quality.
- QuickTime: Users who have the Apple QuickTime plugin installed
on their computers may select the QuickTime version from our Online Demo
webpage. Although the QuickTime media file does not actually "stream" in the
same manner as the RealVideo version, it will begin playing in a reasonably
short time once the QuickTime player has begun downloading the file to your
computer, and will continue playing while the QuickTime file is downloaded.
Note: Viewing quality may not be optimal during initial download/playback, for
the same reason as described above for the Windows Media format.
- AVI: The Online Demo is available in AVI file format, which can be
viewed by virtually all computers, whether they are Windows, Mac, or Unix
machines. One of the most common software programs for playing AVI files is
Windows Media Player. Please note that you must first download the AVI media
file from our server to your computer before you can begin viewing it.
The video is displayed in the player "upside-down",
or appears too large, too small, etc. What might be the problem?
- The program which is being used
to view/play the demo video may be incompatible with the selected media
format. Ensure that the particular software you are using is capable of
playing the demo format you have picked.
- Player software programs usually install with default settings which
enable optimum performance and viewing of video files. However, it's possible
that the configuration settings for the player software may have changed
and may conflict with normal resolution and playback, resulting in less
than optimal performance. Double-check the configuration options/controls
for your particular player software to ensure they match normal operation
settings. Refer to the user documentation for your player software as to
the specifics for normal viewing/playback functions.
- There are also web browser software configuration options/settings
which can affect the playback of the demo video files. As above, you should
check your browser's settings to ensure optimal performance.
Why am I unable to download viewer/player software
from a particular vendor's website?
- To download appropriate player
software, you will most likely need to enable JavaScript in your browser,
as the various software providers have designed their download pages to
require JavaScript activated.
- You may also need to upgrade your particular browser, as some
software developers have designed their download pages and/or their
player software to require a specific set of features which may be
available only in newer browser versions.
What are the computer/operating system
requirements for viewing the online demo?
- As previously mentioned above,
you will need to have appropriate player software installed on your computer
in order to view the demo video. Beyond that fundamental requirement, refer
to our Online Demo webpage for the amount of free disk space needed to store
specific versions of the demo video file on your system (generally only
a few megabytes).
- For detailed information regarding the hardware and software requirements
for specific player software, please refer to the applicable player software
company's website. As a general guideline, the following information may be
helpful:
Software:
Windows 98, NT, Me, 2000, XP ..
Mac OS 8.6 or later ..
